What better way to promote the Beverly Hills franchise than with Shaquille O’Neal‘s lost audition tape? And no, it doesn’t refer to basketball.
Over the weekend, Netflix posted footage of Shaq auditioning for their upcoming film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The Inside the NBA sports analyst was reading lines for the infamous role of Detective Axel Foley.
Many individuals are sure that the intimidation of a 7-foot detective will force witnesses to give up evidence, but Shaq did his best to nail it a couple of times. During the audition, he jokingly said he improved a ton since Shazaam, while having trouble saying certain lines. At the end of the video, he flashes the badge and then changes the logo to Beverly Hills Cop: Shaqxel F, which left viewers amused.
Shaq is not only known for his basketball prowess but also for clowning and joking around with colleagues, even in the films he starred in.
In Netflix’s new Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F movie, Detective Axel Foley is back on screen searching high and low for crimes in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, they are accompanied by some old and new faces to uncover a conspiracy. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F stars Eddie Murphy, Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Patricia Belcher, and much more.
The original story comes from Will Beall and co-writers Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. The first Beverly Hills movie was released in 1984. At that time, the movie grossed approximately $234 million at the global box office.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F premieres on Netflix on July 3.
