Over the many decades of Hollywood’s illustrious history, moviegoers have been introduced to a wide plethora of filmmakers. From Alfred Hitchcock to Quentin Tarantino, Hollywood history is littered with the works of esteemed filmmakers that have come to define the entertainment industry as we know it today. This makes it of virtually no surprise when the entire industry takes notice when one of said filmmakers is poised to release another project that could shake up the very ethos of Hollywood as we know it. Take, for example, the trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon which was unveiled today, the latest Martin Scorsese film that is almost certain to leave audiences and critics alike in awe.
While it has been a few years since we saw Scorsese’s last big project in 2019’s The Irishman, it seems he is back to his same old tricks in the trailer for his latest project Killers of the Flower Moon. An adaptation of a novel by the same name which depicts the pillaging of a Native American tribe, Killers of the Flower Moon has already become one of the most highly anticipated projects of 2023 and now that is only even more the case after the release of the film’s first official trailer earlier today. Starring two of Scorsese’s longtime collaborators in Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, the trailer, which is just under two and a half minutes, captures the plight of the Osage tribe of Native Americans as they must contest the consequences of newfound wealth while also highlighting the struggle for morality at the film’s core as some like DiCaprio’s character do not stand for what is being done to these people. The trailer can be seen reposted below, and I believe most would be inclined to agree that Scorsese has seemingly done it again as said trailer highlights a power struggle in American history that had a remarkable impact on the fabric of the very country we call home. Killers of the Flower Moon is set to eventually hit Apple TV+ but the most eager fans can catch it when it premieres in theaters this fall on October 20th.
When Scorsese first began his Hollywood career back in 1967, no one could’ve ever expected him to ascend the heights he has over the past 50-plus years. From projects like Taxi Driver to Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street and so many more, the revered filmmaker may have quite possibly the most remarkable résumé in all of Hollywood. Now he is set to add another work to that incredible list in Killers of the Flower Moon when the project officially debuts in theaters this fall.
