After much anticipation, Teyana Taylor is set to release her third LP, The Album, this Friday (June 19).
What truly sets this album apart is Taylors ability to bring generations of black musical artists together on a single project that will be available on Juneteenth. This is a notorious holiday for the African American community as it commemorates their liberation from slavery on June 19, 1865.
In preparation for it’s drop, the First Lady of G.O.O.D. Music has revealed the star studded track list featuring some of the biggest names in music such as Erykah Badu, Quavo, Big Sean, Kehlani, and Davido. Missy Elliott, Rick Ross and Future. Teyana’s own daughter Junie, and husband Iman appear alongside her as well.
The 24 track effort also include her graduation anthem “Made It,” the Kanye West produced “We Got Love” featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill, and “How You Want It? (HYWI?)” with King Combs.
The Album marks the arrival of Teyana Taylor as she has truly pushed her sound project after project. Now, following up to 2018’s critically-acclaimed K.T.S.E., The Album is the final product of years of hard work. “This one is a little bit of everybody,” Teyana told Elton John on Apple Music last year. “I want to kind of explore a little bit more, get a couple more people involved, to really, really bring to life my vision, and not just be set on one set person, or one set sound.” Therefore, we can expect this album to show just how dynamic Taylor is as an artist.
Last week, Teyana revealed that she was pregnant with her second child while sharing the emotionally compelling video for “Wake Up Love” featuring Iman. She also received her first nomination for Best Director at the 2020 BET Awards, and is now the new face of M.A.C Cosmetics. She has teamed up with the makeup brand to launch a ’90s-inspired capsule collection later this year.
Stream, “Wake Up Love,” today while we wait for The Album.
