The Office follow-up series has added three more actors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young will now have roles in the mockumentary show. They’ll work alongside Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore. And the best part? There are currently no details about their characters, adding a layer of mystery and anticipation.
The new version of The Office is set at the exact location as NBC’s original series: Dunder Mifflin. The logline states, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is searching for a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
Steve Carell, who starred as the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin named Michael Scott on The Office, says although he knows about the reboot he isn’t involved. He also shared his thoughts on the series as well.
“I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character to show up in something like that,” Carell told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I’m excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea — I guess it’s set in a family newspaper company, and I worked with Domhnall Gleeson, who is one of the leads. I did The Patient with him and he’s an excellent actor and a super nice guy so I think it’ll be great.”
Peacock acquired rights to the untitled The Office show this May. It’s created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, the former of whom developed the original NBC The Office. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators behind the U.K. version of the series, serve as executive producers.
