The Strays have viewers on the edge of their seats, but not in the way you may assume. According to several Twitter users, the Netflix movie has “scarred them for life.” Some of them are even comparing it to Jordan Peele’s Get Out. Although the film dropped at the end of February, it still managed to keep a buzz.
The Strays is about a woman named Neve, a woman who uses her lighter complexion to blend in with a suburban English town. Not only does she work as headmistress, but she has the perfect family to match. However, Neve’s “American Dream” life is altered after a mysterious entity watches closely over her. Nathaniel Martello-White directs the movie.
After watching the movie, viewers can’t seem to fathom the whole narrative. One user wrote, “Just finished watching ‘The Strays’ on Netflix, and I think I’m [scarred] for life because what the hell did I just watch!”
Another person even questioned the writer’s creative process.
“What on God’s green earth was going through the writer’s mind when they created #thestraysnetflix? Like, what the actual fuck was that? I see where they wanted to go. Unfortunately, they did not arrive there, And they released this during Black Women’s History Month too? JINKIES!”
