Bad Trip star Tiffany Haddish will star and produce in a biopic, ran by game1, about Olympic Gold-winning track and field athlete Florence Griffith Joyner (“Flo–Jo“). Ironically, Joyner was one of Haddish’s heroes growing up. The beloved comedian will play as Flo-Jo.
The flick will tell the story of the Olympian’s remarkable life and untimely death. It’ll also give a glimpse of her historic wins and her massive impact on sport culture.
Therese Andrews, EVP of Production at game1, is conducting the entire project. game1 co-CEO’s Basil Iwanyk and Greg Economou will serve as producers on this film. Flo-Jo’s former husband and coach, Al Joyner, will act as a producer and creative consultant on the project. Haddish is already practicing many of Flo-Jo’s training methods and routines. He’s been training Haddish so that she can be prepared to play the role of Flo-Jo.
Haddish and game1 are also teaming up for a documentary series and a podcast related to the biopic.
