This week Warner Brothers unveiled the official trailer for Wonka, the official reboot of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films that is sure to excite fans around the globe.
Originally released in 1971, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory starred Gene Wilder as the architect of an empire which revolves around, as the name suggests, a gargantuan and whimsical chocolate factory. That project has lived well beyond its initial shelf life and become ingrained in Hollywood history to the point that many generations of fans have come to love the film. A sequel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was released in 2005 to critical acclaim as well, only furthering the iconic 1971 original’s legacy and allowing it to remain a mainstay in Hollywood. Now we are set to see that timeless project rebooted over half of a century since it’s initial release as Warner Brothers has enlisted the help of Timothée Chalamet to play the iconic role of Willy Wonka in the budding new film Wonka. In the official trailer for Wonka, reposted below, we see Chalamet revisit Wonka’s roots in something of an origin story that is set to depict how the chocolatier came to own and operate his chocolate factory and become the most revered name in all of candy that will seemingly illuminate the history that led up to the original 1971 film which has become one of the most revered films in Hollywood history. It certainly seems as though Warner Brothers found the perfect person to take on the role of Willy Wonka in Chalamet and eager fans can find out for themselves when Wonka debuts in theaters this winter on December 15th.
