This time instead of superheroes Snyder decided to play his hand at the idea of a classic zombie apocalypse, teaming up with Netflix to produce Army of the Dead.
Snyder is certainly no Hollywood newcomer, with directing credits dating back as far as the 1980’s. Though the director has been quiet since leaving the set of Justice League in 2017 for personal reasons, he appears to be back in a big way. His latest endeavor is a star-studded affair highlighted by names like Omari Hardwick and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista, among many others, and has Hollywood eager for the director’s return. Before Army of the Dead had even released, Netflix had already greenlit a prequel film and a spin-off anime series to go along with the film. Now Netflix has given viewers an official release date, eyeing May 21st as for the potential release of the upcoming film.
2021 could certainly be a big year for Snyder, with the aforementioned “Snyder Cut” set to be released this March just before Army of the Dead hits Netflix. Netflix is certainly eager for the director’s return as well, preparing to build a franchise for a film that is still months away from being released. While many films are seeing delays in the face of COVID-19, the streaming giant remains eager to provide consumers with a plethora of content as they are forced to quarantine. Thus, teaming up with Snyder is seemingly the perfect recipe as the director looks to return to what he knows best. Barring any delays, fans can look forward to Snyder’s return this May when Army of the Dead hits Netflix.
