To much surprise, Euphoria star Zendaya still hasn’t read the scripts for the third season. During an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress who plays Rue on the HBO Max series revealed that she has yet to take a peek at the new material for Euphoria. However, she confirmed that filming would start sometime next year.
“I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on and what the future looks like for Euphoria,” Zendaya said to Vanity Fair. “I don’t really have much of an answer except for right now it’s set to start shooting in January.”
It’s worth noting that Sydney Sweeney suggested in March that filming for the HBO Max series may begin while speaking to MTV. As of now, the series has been put on hold due to unexpected deaths, the Hollywood writers’ strike, and a dispute between creator Sam Levinson and HBO. Rumors about the show ending also surfaced due to the main stars’ busy schedules. HBO Max’s content chairman, Casey Bloys, debunked those murmurs though in a press statement and confirmed that Euphoria will begin filming in 2025.
“I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed,” Bloys said. “Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors. Is the show.”
Euphoria stars Zendaya as Rue Bennett, Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Angus Cloud as Fez, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Barbie Ferreira as Kat Hernandez, and Storm Reid as Gia Bennett.
