The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which honors outstanding achievements in film and television performances, were held on February 23, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Kristen Bell hosted the annual awards ceremony for a second time and paid her respects to those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
“The city and the people in it have been put through the wringer,” Kristen Bell expressed. “There is no way to express our gratitude to all of you properly,” she continued.

The thriller Conclave, centered around the election of a new pope, took home the top honor for Best Ensemble Cast In a Motion Picture. Meanwhile, the TV Ensemble Award went to Shōgun, a drama set in feudal Japan. It also won three other awards. Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai earned the awards for Best Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series for their roles as a canny warlord and his loyal interpreter. The series also won an award for its outstanding stunt work. The comedy series Only Murders in the Building, on the other hand, won an award in the comedy category.
A Complete Unknown actor Timothée Chalamet and The Substance star Demi Moore won awards for Best Leading Actor and Actress. Chalamet portrayed a young Bob Dylan during his early music years, while Moore played an actress and fitness expert who is fired by sexist executives for the “crime” of aging. Jean Smart won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for the third time for her portrayal of a legendary stand-up comedian in Hacks, while Martin Short took home Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as a Broadway producer in Only Murders in the Building. Not to mention, Kieran Culkin, a past SAG nominee for his role as a relentless corporate leader on Succession won Best Supporting Actor for his performance as a quick-witted American in A Real Pain.

From compelling dramas to hilarious comedies, the SAG Awards highlighted the power of storytelling and the incredible dedication of actors, making it a memorable night for the love of acting. Overall, the award show showcased a plethora of outstanding performances across the film and television scene, honoring both established stars and rising talents.
