Six years after Avengers: Endgame has cemented itself as one of the highest-grossing films in history, the iconic superheroes are joining forces again.
During an extensive five-and-a-half-hour live stream, Marvel Studios officially revealed the ensemble cast for Avengers: Doomsday. The lineup features familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside actors from 20th Century Fox’s now-axed X-Men franchise and the upcoming movie Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, some cast members won’t be making a return to the Avengers saga, including Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America). Although Evans’ involvement remains uncertain, there’s a possibility that he might appear in the next two Avengers movies.
The star-studded cast list includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon), and Winston Duke (M’Baku). There are also members from the anti-hero Thunderbolts team as well, Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman, who’s playing a mysterious character known as Bob.

Additionally, fans will also see X-Men veterans on their big screens, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), who all played a major role in bringing attention to the superhero era via 2000’s X-Men. They’ll act alongside Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who both appeared in Fox’s X-Men sequels. A surprise addition to the cast is Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Channing Tatum, who was once attached to a scrapped Gambit solo film but will now make his MCU debut following Deadpool & Wolverine.
The Fantastic Four also have a special spot in Doomsday! Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch) are joining the ensemble also. Despite the cast having 26 actors, sources believe that Marvel has more names to reveal. Further details remain under wraps.
Marvel Studios initially revealed the news about Avengers: Doomsday at the San Diego Comic-Con and shocked fans with the unexpected news that Robert Downey Jr. would be making his MCU return as the franchise’s new Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man. Downey Jr’s return to the Avengers franchise also helped to reunite directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who had stepped away from Marvel after directing Endgame to focus on streaming projects.
