Scoop of the Day
While hosting the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday (Sept. 11), Megan Thee Stallion paid tribute to iconic moments from the event’s history. During the show, Megan honored Beyoncé by recreating her stunning red, white, and blue one-piece outfit the singer wore while supporting and introducing Team USA for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Not only did the “HISS” rapper revamp Beyoncé’s red, white, and blue one-piece, but she also paid homage to Britney Spears’ eye-catching 2001 VMAs performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U.” She attempted to complete the same look Britney wore at that time by wearing a snake around her body, but she quickly backed off due to her fear. Despite not handling the snake, Megan stayed committed to the tribute, playfully adding, “I tried to hold it down for Britney.”
While Megan didn’t explicitly state her tribute to Britney Spears, her rendition of Britney’s outfit clearly showcased the pop star’s inspiration and admiration. Despite her hosting responsibilities, Megan genuinely enjoyed herself, engaging with the audience and appreciating performances from various artists, including GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, and more.
Needless to say, Megan Thee Stallion was full of surprises at the star-studded event. Before the show ended, the Hot Girl Coach performed some of her biggest hits this year, like “Mamushi (feat. Yuki Chiba)” and “B.A.S.,” for instance.
